Nana Poku Ashis calls for the release of Ohemaa Mercy’s former road manager

Entertainment critic and event organizer, KOKA

An artiste manager, Nana Poku Ashis, has called for the release of Ohemaa Mercy’s former road manager, Kwaku Osei Korankye Asiedu, popularly known as KOKA, several days after his arrest.

In a Facebook post on September 23, 2024, Nana Poku Ashis stated that if there had been proper dialogue between the two parties when the issue arose, things would have been resolved amicably rather than escalating to an arrest.

He believes the situation is being handled harshly because of the authorities involved in dealing with the case.

“We really should have handled this situation better before it escalated to become this MERCY! Taking a moment to reflect on our thoughts and anger could have prevented this disaster. I agree that my brother Kwaku Osei Korankye Asiedu can be overly emotional with his utterances, but we shouldn’t have let things escalate to the point where one has to be remanded behind bars for this long.

“Both camps have been very useful to each other in past times, so dialogue should have been the best resort to this issue. It seems like the battle is with the gatekeepers and not the lord, perhaps in a very voiceless industry Ayooo!. #freekoka,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

Background:

The camp of Ohemaa Mercy, in a press release on September 19, 2024, announced the arrest of Kwaku Osei Korankye Asiedu, popularly known as KOKA.

According to them, KOKA’s arrest followed threats he made against Ohemaa Mercy’s life.

Following a court proceeding, additional reports about KOKA’s arrest were revealed.

He allegedly threatened to send thugs after her for refusing to pay GH¢8,500 he claimed she owed him.

KOKA had been working with Ohemaa Mercy since 2021 but recently stopped due to claims that she had taken on projects without involving him.

Following this, he demanded immediate payment of the outstanding GH¢8,500.

Ohemaa Mercy, however, was reluctant to settle the debt, prompting a series of threatening posts from KOKA.
