Police in Wisconsin have released dramatic body and dashboard camera footage documenting a recent shooting, in which they say an armed felon was killed after opening fire on an officer and leaving him critically injured following a chase.
The Greenfield Police Department on Thursday released edited footage stemming from the August 22 incident that resulted in the death of 31-year-old Tyran Lamb.
In the video, Lamb, who was an ex-convict, is seen fleeing from the police after running a red light, crashing into another vehicle, ignoring multiple commands to surrender and then shooting a male officer through the windshield from a point-blank range.

Lamb, a father-of-three, attempted to flee on foot but was fatally shot by the police.
The wounded officer survived, thanks in part to his colleague’s life-saving efforts, as seen in the graphic body camera footage.
Lamb, 31, was on active community supervision and was not allowed to be in possession of a gun because he was a convicted felon
According to the police, the incident began unfolding shortly after 1.30am on August 22, when a Greenfield police officer witnessed Lamb run a red light. The officer, labeled as ‘Officer 1’ in the video, performed a traffic stop at South 35th Street and West Oklahoma Avenue.
After initially pulling over, Lamb sped away, triggering a police pursuit involving ‘Officer 1’ and two backup cops.
Police deployed spike strips to stop Lamb, but he continued fleeing until he crashed into another driver at South 27th Street and West Becher Street, leaving her with fractured vertebra.
The newly released body camera and dashboard camera footage shows Officer 1 run up to Lamb’s mangled car with his gun drawn and yell at him: ‘show me your hands right f***ing now!’
According to Greenfield Chief of Police Jay Johnson, the suspect refused to show officers his hands, despite being ordered to do so 18 separate times.
In the midst of the tense standoff, a bystander shows up and seemingly tries to intervene, causing police officers to momentarily divert their attention from Lamb.

Officer 1 gets right up to the windshield to try and see both the suspect’s hands, at which point Lamb opens fire, shooting the male cop multiple times.
The officer falls backwards and takes cover behind a police car. He calls out: ‘shot fired! I’m hit!’
A backup officer fires on Lamb as he emerges from his car and flees on foot. During his flight, he jumps over the wounded cop and shoots at him at a close range.
Lamb collapsed a short distance away and was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
Body camera footage shows the wounded officer bleeding on the ground, and the female backup officer rushing to his side to administer first aid.
‘Please don’t let me die, I’m begging you,’ the injured cop pleads with his colleague as she applies a tourniquet to his blood-soaked leg.
The injured officer says he has been hit in the leg, in the chest and in the hand. He informs his colleague that he is having trouble breathing.
Chief Johnson praised the young backup officer for saving her badly injured co-worker’s life.

The 36-year-old officer with three years of experience was hospitalized in critical but stable condition. He has since been released home and is expected to make a full recovery.
At the time of the shootout, Lamb was out on community supervision stemming from two prior convictions for fleeing officers. As a felon, he was not allowed to be in possession of a gun, reported Wisconsin Right Now.
‘The suspect was an armed felon who made the decision to flee from the police,’ Johnson said. ‘He put our community, our citizens, and our officers in danger.’
Court records indicate that Lamb, from Milwaukee, in 2014 was convicted of armed robbery, and sentenced to three years in prison.
Shortly upon his release, Lamb reoffended and was convicted of fleeing a police officer, earning him a year in prison.
Lamb’s loved ones said he was a family man who lived for his two children. His girlfriend is currently pregnant with their third
Lamb was back behind bars in 2019, after he again was found guilty of eluding an officer and sentenced to a year in state prison, followed by a year of community supervision.
In the wake of the fatal officer-involved shooting, Lamb’s family called on the police department to tell them what led to the shooting.
Prior to the release of the body camera video, Lamb’s mother, Tahnisha Lamb, argued in an interview with WISN that her son did not shoot at an officer.
She acknowledged that her son had prior run-ins with the law, but insisted that he was turning his life around for the sake of his two children. His girlfriend is currently pregnant with their third.
‘He loved his family,’ Lamb’s mother said. ‘He loved his kids and me and his grandmama. We was [sic] his world, his life, and they took him. They took his life.’
The Greenfield police said the incident is still being investigated.
