Mom attacked by inmates in jail while awaiting trial for holding sex parties for underage kids

A 47-year-old mother accused of hosting sordid sex parties for her 15-year-old son and his friends was attacked in jail while awaiting trial, it has been revealed.

Arrested in October 2021 over the allegations, Shannon O’Connor was attacked by a pack of five female inmates inside the all-female wing of the Elmwood Correctional Facility, a medium-security jail in Milpitas, California.

The jail is managed by the Santa Clara Sheriff’s Office, and houses roughly 600 female inmates arrested across the Northern California County.

In court documents, sheriffs for the Los Gatos Sheriff’s Department said the female prisoners targeted the so-called Party Mom – who is facing more than three dozen charges for allowing the alcohol-fueled trysts at her $4.7million mansion – in a vicious beating ‘likely [to] produce great bodily injury.’

The attack transpired this past October, more than a year after O’Connor’s arrest at her Los Gatos manse, where prosecutors said she would regularly hand out condoms and alcohol to her son’s underage friends to the point where they vomited and fell unconscious.

The mother of two was awaiting trial for of hosting parties at her $4.7 million, 5,122-square foot Northern California estate in Los Gatos that has a pool, sports court and more

‘The assault was carried out using hands and feet, and the level of force used was likely to produce great bodily injury,’ a sheriff’s deputy wrote in a February affidavit filed shortly after the attack. ‘No other weapons were used.’

Her alleged attackers – identified by Los Gatos cops as Erika Amaya, 45, Danielle Chavez, 24, Sophia Vigil, 35, Anita Quiroz, 36, and Marjaana Gardea, 28 – are now poised to stand trial for the October 24 attack, with a court date slated for Thursday.

San Francisco-based outlet KRON-TV was the first to report on the incident, after obtaining the previously unseen affidavit on Monday.

The filing revealed that O’Connor – who is currently awaiting her own trial on more than three dozen charges that allege she would regularly buy vodka and whiskey for parties held at her sprawling home and would even watch and laugh while her son’s friends engaged in sex acts – was hospitalized after the attack.

While the extent of her injuries were not specified, Los Gatos Sheriff’s Deputy Frank Thrall wrote the so-called ‘Party Mom’ was returned to the county jail shortly thereafter, though it is not clear from the leaked document how long her stay was.

The document did specify, however, that ‘the assault lasted approximately 16 seconds’, and that O’Connor – whose court date is next month – did not attempt to defend herself during the brief-but-heated altercation.

The officer added that video and audio of the incident was captured by the prison’s surveillance system, and will be used as evidence in the five women’s upcoming trial.

O’Connor, meanwhile, remains imprisoned without bond on 39 criminal charges that include felony child abuse, sexual assault, sexual battery, and providing alcohol to minors, after being denied bail after her initial arrest in 2021.

At the time, prosecutors decried the middle-aged mother for allegedly hosting the series of parties during an eight-month period in 2020 and 2021, during which time she allegedly pressured those in attendance to keep quiet about the debauchery.

The filing revealed that O’Connor was hospitalized after the attack, which lasted 16 seconds. O’Connor – seen here during a preliminary hearing days after her arrest in October 2021 – did not attempt to defend herself during the brief but intense onslaught

‘She stated if anyone was told she could go to jail,’ prosecutors at the time said in their statement of facts, which laid bare the alleged degeneracy that transpired at the booze-fueled shindigs – which lawyers said were held without her now-ex-husband’s knowledge.

In one case, prosecutors said O’Connor went to a bedroom and watched a drunk teenage boy get on top of a girl, who was a friend of O’Connor’s then-15-year-old son, court documents claimed.

A 14-year-old who spoke to the county’s legal team further alleged she was threatened with retaliation if she told anyone about the parties and what they entailed, which lawyers said included threats of rumors being spread about her.

On another occasion, O’Connor handed one teen a condom and pushed him into a room where a drunk 14-year-old girl was lying on the bed. Frightened, the girl ran and locked herself in the bathroom, prosecutors said.

‘She stated if anyone was told she could go to jail,’ prosecutors said of what O’Connor told her son’s teenage friends would happen if they spoke up about what was happening at the parties, which were held at her family’s $4.7million home in Los Gatos (seen here)

At another, the mom took a boy to a room and left him with a girl who was drunk, with prosecutors contending that the girl was then assaulted. It is claimed she later confronted O’Connor over leaving her while she was extremely drunk.

O’Connor is said to have kept the parties secret from her husband and other parents while 14- and 15-year-olds would get so drunk they ‘would vomit’ and ‘fall unconscious’

‘Like why did you like, do that?’ the girl allegedly told the prosecution. ‘Like, you knew what he was going to do to me.’

In yet another incident, the mother was accused of witnessing a boy punch and kick an intoxicated girl and doing nothing to intervene.

‘It’s just so terrible what she did to my daughter and these other children,’ said the mother of one of the girls, who was not to protect her daughter.

‘My heart breaks for these kids. It’s been devastating. It’s a worst nightmare for a parent,’ she told Mercury News

O’Connor is said to have kept the parties secret from her husband and other parents while the 14- and 15-year-olds would get so drunk they ‘would vomit, be unable to stand and fall unconscious,’ prosecutors said.

O’Connor’s husband, Robert Amaral, a chief revenue officer at a prominent NorCal anti-fraud company, said he had no knowledge of the trysts.

Eventually, several of the underage partygoers notified detectives in Santa Clara about the parties and what they entailed, spurring a full-scale investigation.

Speaking to children who attended the shindigs and several parents, detectives soon gleaned that O’Connor had allegedly organized at least a half-dozen large parties not only at her home in Los Gatos, but in Santa Cruz and Lake Tahoe as well.

Prosecutors said that it was at these events that she would regularly ply the teens with alcohol, all while encouraging them to have sex and even watching several of the sex acts, some of which were said to be nonconsensual.

Eventually, detectives gathered the evidence needed to make an arrest, but soon learned that O’Connor was in the process of moving out of state with her children, to a much-less scenic locale in Idaho.

O’Connor faced  39 criminal counts for allegedly hosting alcohol and sex parties for her son and his teenage friends in her home at the time in Los Gatos, California (pictured). She moved out of the home in October 2021 when officers began to hone in on her alleged misdeeds

She was in the middle of moving when cops in Boise flocked to her new residence on October 19, 2021, extraditing her back to Santa Clara County, California, to be arraigned on the 39 charges, which include felony child endangerment, child molestation, sexual assault and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

At the time, officials in the Gem Stat said that when deputies arrived on the scene to arrest her on a fugitive warrant, they found a dozen of teenagers at her home.

Officers said they placed her two sons, including the 15-year-old, in state custody at the time, but they were later released. Her ex would not comment on the arrest.

Now prohibited from contacting her children, who now resides in Texas with his father, O’Connor promptly received a preliminary hearing, where lawyers painted her as a tech-savvy ‘predator’ who taught the teens how to lie and used gifts to bait them into joining what prosecutors said was no more than a sordid social club.

A judge would then deny bail to O’Connor in a matter of days, after determining prosecutors provided ‘clear and convincing evidence that if the defendant were to be released to the public, there is likely going to be great bodily harm to the victims.’

She has remained incarcerated at Elmwood’s all-female facility ever since, and faces more than 20 years in prison if convicted on all counts.

She is due back in court next month to finally face those charges. DailyMail.com has reached out to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s office for comment.
