MEGHAN MCCAIN: Ex-ABC News adulterers Amy and TJ want back on-air. I’d watch that!

Ex-ABC News philanderers TJ Holmes and Amy Robach are reportedly thinking about making it official – with a new morning show.

Paging TLC – we’ve found the perfect lead-in to MILF Manor!

DailyMail.com reported this week that the two lovers are – unironically – pitching the concept of an ‘up close and personal’ talk show, after being ousted over their workplace infidelity.

How much more ‘personal’ can it get? Tune in to see.

But honestly, why not put these adulterers back on air? If you haven’t noticed daytime TV is getting super saucy.

Gone are the glory days of Hoda and Kathy Lee drinking wine before the first commercial break on the third hour of the Today show. That’s boring by current standards.

On MSNBC, Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski pioneered the new genre of co-working candoolers.

Now Kelly Ripa and her husband Mark Consuelos are co-hosting – after Ryan Seacrest and Michael Strahan got the boot – as the latest first couple of morning reality TV.

Talk about public displays of affection. These two take it to dizzying new heights.

Anyone that follows them on social media has seen their many half-naked, titillating Instagram posts. Listen to any of their interviews and you’ll get a front-row, bedroom seat to open discussions of their wild and impressively active sex life.

Will TJ and Amy be oversharers as well? If they’re smart, they will be. That’s apparently exactly what viewers want right after shuffling the kids off to the school.

Times have certainly changed in daytime television. And trust me, I would know.

It was only a matter of time before the reality TV behemoth enveloped TV news. Come on, they’re not that different after all. And we can’t look away from a trainwreck.

Even the New York Times is writing about the ‘Vanderpump Rules’ sex scandal.

For the uninitiated, ‘Vanderpump Rules’ is a Bravo reality television show about the steamy and sordid lives of the employees and associates of restaurateur Lisa Vanderpump.

Well… one long time cast member has now cheated on his girlfriend of 9 years with another cast member. And a different Vanderpump girl allegedly punched the mistress in the eye. Hooked? I knew it.

And you’re telling me that TJ and Amy don’t deserve a piece of this action?

You have to give it to them – they’ve played this perfectly.

These are two people, who mere months ago, the average American didn’t recognize. In fact, I cannot name one piece of serious journalism either of them has ever done and I worked at ABC News for four years.

Then DailyMail.com pictured them on a spicy, secret weekend getaway, and they took the ball and ran with it.

After being exposed, TJ would grab Amy’s behind on the beach as paparazzi snapped away. He even found himself conveniently being photographed buying a ring and a necklace for Amy’s 50th birthday, which she was later conveniently photographed wearing.

They have kissed, hugged, made out and straddled in public in front of the cameras. They’ve gone on numerous beach vacations and brought us all along with them. They laugh and play for the cameras and seem to love the attention and spectacle rather than show any remorse or embarrassment. They even got reported payouts as they danced out the doors at ABC News.

They’ve given America a backstage peek at that people who sit in front of the cameras. Media elites are just as messy and irresponsible as anyone else in America. Probably even more so.

If that’s not a thrilling reality TV show pitch than I don’t know what is.

Their days of presenting themselves as ‘real journalists’ are long gone. Imagine them covering another toxic train derailment or interviewing a presidential candidate.

Now in exclusive new leaks to US Weekly, a source says they’re considering their ‘next steps’ as a couple, and ‘talked about… moving in together and getting engaged.’

Brilliant marketing. Make Amy an honest woman before the premiere. And don’t be surprised if they film special, behind-the-scenes clips of the wedding preps. It’ll make a perfect first episode.

Now, I know what you’re going to say – doesn’t this reward bad conduct?

Yes, it does.

But who are we to get in the way of their self-destructive behavior.

This show would – without a doubt – be a disaster. The stopwatch for how long they last will be set to the day the show launches.

Their romance was formed secretly and inappropriately in the workplace while both cheated on their spouses.

TJ was later alleged to be a serial womanizer and potentially worse. He got with at least four women at ABC news before Amy.

Jasmin Pettaway was 24 years old, 13 years younger than TJ, when they started their fling. A well-placed source told DailyMail.com that TJ was ‘was a predator who took full advantage of his position, and he was reckless.’

Another young ABC News staffer, who had an affair with TJ, identified only as Sascha, said he treated her as a ‘throwaway object.’

Holmes was reportedly ‘distraught’ over these allegations. Someone in his camp told the New York Post, ‘He has a daughter. He hates that he’s been painted as this predator.’

Nevermind the infidelity.

Spare me the moralizing. I haven’t heard a pep from the #MeToo warriors – demanding justice for the subordinate females that TJ slept with. And don’t tell me there isn’t a TV executive who wouldn’t jump all over this.

Is a reboot of ‘Newsroom… Adultery Edition’ that much of a stretch? Bad behavior makes good reality TV.

If you don’t like it – don’t watch. But let’s face it, we’re all in need of some good old fashioned juicy escapism.

So, lean in, Amy and TJ. Lean into who you are. Two people completely unabashedly unashamed. I hope Bravo comes knocking.
