A California man has been left grieving after his cat was mauled to death by a pit bull which overpowered its owners – who then fled the grizzly scene.
Tootie Pootie’s devastated owner Chris Fowler said the ordeal was traumatizing – and is now demanding justice after the nine-year-old cat was ravaged by a dog on Magliocco Drive in San Jose.
Fowler let his cat out of his apartment to get some fresh air on Saturday afternoon when a man, girl, and large dog approached her on the street.
Footage showed the dog leap forward and overpower the girl who was holding its leash.

Footage showed that neither dog owner was able to free Tootie Pootie from their dog’s jaws
The dog, believed to be a pit bull, charged at Tootie Pootie and attacked her.

It wasn’t until Fowler stepped in that the cat finally broke free.
Fowler told KRON4: ‘The dog overpowered the daughter and my cat was viciously attacked.
‘I was also bit in the process of trying to pry my animal out of the dog’s jaws.
Speaking about the dog walker, Fowler said: ‘He said, ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry.’ Sorry doesn’t cut it. I want the owner of the pit bull to be held accountable and responsible for his animal’s action.’
He said that they fled the scene.
Tootie Pootie was rushed to a veterinary clinic. The feline was suffering from serious internal bleeding and broken bones from the ordeal.

Fowler said that the cat was humanly euthanized at Veterinary Emergency Group.
He held his beloved cat for the final time before her sad and untimely death.
The heartbroken owner added: ‘I have no family. She’s been through some of the roughest parts of my life and meant the world to me.
‘She was my everything. She was all I had. It’s traumatizing.
‘She was so sweet and innocent. It is unfair the way she died. I miss her.’
San Jose Animal Care and Services said in a statement: ‘At this point we do not have any information on the dog owner and the dog.
‘If the owner is found, they may be cited and ACS will pursue a Dangerous Dog hearing.’
The footage has been released in a bid to help identify the owner and the dog. Fowler said that he’d never seen them in the neighborhood before.
