JMJ

Music producer and talent manager, Joshua Raphaelson, well known as JMJ says in order to succeed with a female artiste as artiste manager you have to manage her partner too.

JMJ started off by sincerely talking about how difficult it is to manage a female artiste. He said with a female talent, you are tasked with the responsibility of managing not just her skill, but “her emotions, and another person, who is most likely their partner.”

He says every decision you would make as a manager would have to be in sync with the demands of her “partner”. This is as a result of the dominance most men have in romantic relationships. He said apparently, this was not new to him as he shared a story on how sisters and female friends from high school, took some serious risks to meet their partners.

He spoke on how much patience and knowledge is needed when managing a female artiste, emphasizing on the female genetics of low emotional stability and their biological being, specifically when it is “that time of the month” and how to “tap into another aspect of her to let her understand that we have to act” regardless of what is going on.

He compared and contrasted managing male artistes as well and mentioned that the problem with the men is “discipline”. He also advised that the best way to manage a female artiste is through their partners.

On the standing issue of managers having intimate and sexual relations with their talents to create an enabling and comfortable work environment, he stated that he does not believe in that, but understands why other producers do so. In a bid to maintain a positive image for himself and Kaakie, he hinted on the deliberate action he took to never be seen in public with her.

He said this on Spectacle, GTV’s vibrant entertainment show which airs every Friday at 8 pm.
