Man dies after being mauled by ‘out of control’ dog in Derby as armed police shoot animal dead and another man is arrested

  • The man died after suffering ‘serious injuries’ at a house in Normanton, Derby
  • Police have now appealed for anyone with information to contact them 

A man has died after he was mauled by an ‘out of control’ dog which was then shot dead by armed police.

The man died after sustaining ‘serious injuries’ when he was attacked by the dog at a house in Normanton, Derby, yesterday.

Firearm officers had to shoot the dog after they were called to the address to reports a man had been seriously injured by a dog.

A man has been arrested in connection with the attack remains in custody, according to Derbyshire Police. 

The force also asked anyone with information to contact them with reference 215-220423

A Derbyshire Police spokesman said last night: ‘We are now able to confirm that the man injured during the incident in Cameron Road, Derby, died at the scene. His family have been made aware and our thoughts are with them at this time

‘The man arrested in connection with the incident remains in police custody and a scene remains in place at a house in Cameron Road. There will be an increased police presence in the area as enquiries continue and officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have information.

‘Anyone who can help with the enquiries is asked to contact the force with reference 215-220423.’
