Mali game very important for every Ghanaian – Mohammed Salisu

Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu has disclosed that the Black Stars are aware of the game against Mali’s significance for Ghanaians.

The Black Stars arrived in Bamako on Tuesday night ahead of the third-round 2026 World Cup qualifier.

The team is looking to recover from the defeat by Comoros, which has left them in fourth place in Group I with three points from two games.

The team needs to win the game against the Eagles in Mali before facing the Central African Republic in Kumasi four days later in another crucial match.

Speaking after their first training session in Kumasi, Salisu acknowledged the importance Ghanaians place on the tournament.

“I think this game is very important for every Ghanaian. It’s a World Cup qualifier, so we understand its importance to Ghanaians. We have good players, good young players.

“I believe we can perform better. We know it’s not going to be easy. Mali has a strong team. I think we need to prepare well. And hopefully, we will win the game.”
