A luxury sports car has gone up in flames with police searching for two people who were seen carrying jerry cans moments before the blaze broke out.

A 2022 $400,000 Lamborghini Huracan erupted in flames at 1 am at Sydney Olympic Park, in western Sydney, on Tuesday.

Emergency services were called to the scene with five fire crews taking over an hour to put out the blaze.

NSW Police said the fire could be linked to organised crime with the car allegedly firebombed in an underworld revenge attack, The Daily Telegraph reported.

Police have said that two people carrying jerrycans were found in the area an hour prior to the fire

The $400,000 luxury sports car was a rental and not owned by the driver who parked it near Olympic Park.

Police have now made an appeal to the public for anyone who might have information on two people seen in the area earlier that night.

Locals said the driver had parked the car at midnight, leaving it on the roadside.

During the blaze, a nearby BMW was damaged by the heat of the flames.

NSW Police told Daily Mail Australia that they had no additional information on the men seen moment before the fire, and that it is currently an open investigation.
