Ghanaian striker Kelvin Yeboah has revealed why he decided to choose the Italian U-21 side ahead of the senior men’s national team of Ghana the Black Stars.

The in-form striker was handed a call up by the Italian U-21 side last Friday but before that he had been called up to play for the country of his birth Ghana.

He says that earning a call-up to the U21 side of Italy is a dream come true as a young footballer and feels more Italian than Ghanaian as he has spent 17 years living in Italy with his parents.

“I came to Italy in 2004 when I was 4-5 years old. I got my passport for quite a while. In terms of football, I played in Monza, Novara, then I went to Gozzano,” Yeboah said.

“I found myself very well here, I already knew some guys from this group as a child because I played against them,” he added.

Yeboah whose parents are Ghanaians was born in the national capital of Accra and is the nephew of Ghana legend Anthony Yeboah was handed his maiden call up by Black Stars coach C.K Akonnor last week for the 2022 World Cup qualifier against South Africa and Ethiopia in September.

Yeboah has now scored four goals in five matches for his Austrian Bundesliga side Sturm Graz this season.
