JUSAG members shake Aburi with 50 years anniversary health walk

The exercise was dubbed ‘JUSAG Aggressive Health Walk

Members of the Judicial Service Association of Ghana (JUSAG) embarked on a fitness and wellness exercise at Aburi in the Eastern Region over the weekend, as part of the activities for its 50th anniversary celebration.

The exercise, dubbed ‘JUSAG Aggressive Health Walk,’ was attended by registrars, recorders, clerks, administrators, and others. Some members of the bench also participated in the health walk.

The walk started from Ayi-Mensah and ended at Peduase Lodge, promoting health and wellness as part of the golden jubilee celebrations.

Samuel Afotey Otu, the National President of JUSAG, urged members to incorporate regular exercise into their daily routines. Mr. Afotey Otu, who led the walk that concluded with an aerobic session, expressed satisfaction with the event.

“Judicial Service work typically involves sitting down, which is not good for our health,” he acknowledged. He encouraged members to engage in programs like health walks occasionally.

To emphasize his point, Mr. Afotey Otu referenced biblical allusions, mentioning the Bible and the Quran to advocate for regular exercise. He aligned this with the Chief Justice’s call for unity through sporting activities, suggesting that members should exercise every weekend to gain strength.

Staff from various regions, including Sogakope in the Volta region and Bongo in the north, participated in the health walk, highlighting the importance of unity in purpose.

“We expect every staff member to participate in all the activities because our vision is stronger together,” Mr. Afotey Otu stated.

Ramsey Ahorklui, the Greater Accra regional chairman of the association, mentioned that more activities are planned for the celebration, including games, floats, health screenings, sporting events, and symposiums.

The health walk aimed to improve the physical fitness and well-being of members, foster bonds in a fun and healthy environment, and provide an opportunity to de-stress and recharge.

Participants shared their experiences, suggesting that the exercise should become a regular event to ensure members maintain their fitness.

JUSAG was established in Cape Coast in 1973 and celebrated its 50th anniversary with a launch on February 17, 2024. Chief Justice Torkornoo unveiled the JUSAG 50-year anniversary logo and the anniversary cloth.
