A jogger, 29, has died after collapsing during the Great North Run.
He passed away in hospital on Sunday after feeling ill on the route from Newcastle to South Shields.
Yesterday’s race was brought to a stop so emergency services could reach the man – who fell ill close to the end of the 13.1 mile route.
A spokesperson for The Great Run Company said. ‘The whole organisational team at the Great North Run express their sincerest condolences to his family and friends.’
