Jewish ex-Air Guard General sues Gavin Newsom over anti-Semitic discrimination he claims he faced from his commanding officer including ‘jokes about getting discounts’ – as he says California Governor ‘supported defamatory campaign against me’

  • Retired Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Magram has filed a lawsuit claiming he was fired because of his religion
  • He said Major General Matthew Beevers discriminated against him because he is Jewish and Governor Gavin Newsom enabled the anti-Semitism
  • Magram was fired last January after officials received reports that he used subordinates for personal errands

A former Air National General claims he was fired because of his religion and California Governor Gavin Newsom enabled the anti-Semitism he faced from his commanding officer.

Retired Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Magram, who is Jewish, filed a lawsuit in Las Angeles on January 24 seeking $1,600,000 – alleging he faced harassment and was wrongfully terminated last year because of his religion.

Magram says Major General Matthew Beevers discriminated and harassed him because of his Jewish faith and heritage, and that the state and governor were aware of Beevers anti-Semitism but did nothing to stop him.

Magram said Beevers used anti-Semitic stereotypes when talking about other Jewish military personnel.

Magram was ‘involuntarily transferred’ to the U.S. Air Force retired reserve last year, which is considered ‘parallel’ to a firing, after officials received reports that he used subordinates for personal errands.

Magram said California Governor Gavin Newsom was aware of Beevers anti-Semitism and did nothing to stop it

An investigation found he used troops to take his mother grocery shopping and complete mandatory online cybersecurity training.

He is also said to have put an F-15C fighter jet on standby in a way that some said could be used to frighten civilian protesters.

Magram’s lawsuit said he worked for California Air Guard and United States Air Force  for over 37 years, including 14 years as a full time officer on State Active Duty with the California Military Department.

He argued he was not fired for using troops to run personal errands, but instead was terminated as retaliation for speaking out against Beevers anti-Semitism.

‘Beevers discriminated against Magram by harassing and wrongfully terminating Magram because of Magram’s Jewish faith, Jewish heritage, and Magram’s complaints about Beevers’ anti-Semitic discrimination and harassment,’ said the lawsuit.

‘The State of California, CMD, and Governor Newsom were aware of Beevers’ anti-Semitism, Beevers’ anti-Semitic campaign, and Beevers’ retaliation against Magram.’

‘The State California, CMD and Governor Newsom facilitated and ratified Beevers’ anti-Semitism and Beevers’ anti-Semitic campaign against Magram,’ the lawsuit said.

The lawsuit claimed Beevers described the California State Guard Leadership as run by a bunch of ‘K***’ lawyers.

Magram was fired in January 2023 after officials received reports that he used subordinates for personal errands

Magram said Beevers used anti-Semitic stereotypes when talking about other Jewish military personnel

Magram said when Beevers learned a Jewish Lieutenant Colonel in the California State Guard negotiated a military discount on a car he said, ‘How Jewish can you get.’

He claimed Beevers would repeatedly call a Jewish Major General ‘cheap’ and said he was giving ‘you guys (referring to Jews) a bad name.’

Magram said he emailed a letter to the California Inspector General’s Office and Governor Gavin Newsom’s office detailing Beevers abuse and discrimination on August 8, 2022.

In September 2022, Magram followed up the governor’s office and filed a whistleblower complaint about Beevers on October 17, 2022.

The lawsuit said Beevers retaliated against Magram for these complaints that ultimately lead to his firing.

Newsom’s office connected DailyMail.com with the California Military Department who have not returned a request for comment in time for this report.
