It Is Very Awful – Asamoah Gyan Reacts To Losing GH¢1 Million Court Case To Journalist Osarfo Anthony


Former Black Stars Captain, Asamoah Gyan, has expressed his dismay over the High Court’s judgment, which ruled that he must pay over GH¢1 million to Ghanaian journalist and award-winning screen writer, Osarfo Anthony.

The former Sunderland player while speaking about the ruling described it as “very awful.”

The football legend who is popularly known as Baby Jet, said that the judgment lacked sense and announced his intention to appeal the decision.

In an interview Asamoah Gyan granted GHOne TV, he expressed his disbelief, stating, “I will definitely appeal because it doesn’t make sense,” and emphasized, “There is no way I should lose that case.”

He also raised some concerns about a potential conspiracy, stating, “I now heard the judge didn’t collect our evidence and everything,” vowing to follow up on the matter.

Yesterday, November 8, 2023, Osarfo Anthony’ took to his Facebook wall to announce that after eight years of legal battle, the High Court (Financial and Economic Decision), presided over by Justice Ernest Owusu Dapaa concluded that he the plaintiff had successfully proved his case, holding that Gyan’s manager initiated the malicious prosecution.

As a result, the Court issued a judgment for GH¢900,000 in damages to the plaintiff. Additionally, Osarfo Anthony was awarded GH¢111,000 for the 111 months he lost from his job, where he was earning GH¢1,000 per month.

In a report sighted on starrfmonline, it was disclosed that the Court also imposed a cost of GH¢60,000 against Asamoah Gyan and his manager, bringing the total sum to GH¢1,071,000.
