Is Samuel Inkoom making a case for Black Stars return? Ex-Kotoko defender bags second goal in Hearts of Oak jersey — Ghana Sports Online

Samuel Inkoom has put in an impressive performance in the Hearts of Oak jersey since joining the Phobians last month as a free agent.

Though the 32-year-old hasn’t officially declared his intentions of earning a Black Stars return, his performance for the Phobians in the Ghana Premier League is already opening up the conversation.

The former Asante Kotoko defender was on target for the Phobians in their 1-0 win over Gold Stars in the Ghana Premier League on Wednesday.

Wednesday’s goal wasn’t his first in the Rainbow colours. The ex-FC Basel defender scored his debut goal for Hearts of Oak in the 1-1 drawn game against Elmina Sharks at the Accra Sports Stadium a little over a month ago.

Since arriving on the scene, Hearts captain Fatawu Mohammed has been consigned to the substitute bench while Inkoom features consistently in games.

His performance has already opened the talking point about a potential Black Stars return for the defender. Since exiting the scene, Ghana hasn’t found a solution to the right-back problems with Reading defender Andy Yiadom offering a little solution.

Although Belgian-born Denis Odoi offered some amount of hope and confidence in the two games he played against Nigeria in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification series, there should be serious competition for the position.

Ex-Dreams FC player Philimon Baffour never played in the role despite receiving multiple call-ups.

Some believe the experience and exposure of Inkoom will be key to the Black Stars and head coach Otto Addo won’t be wrong to have a look in on the defender.
