I was suspended from church for playing a sex scene in a movie

Veteran Nollywood actor, Zack Orji, has opened up about a challenging period in his career, revealing that he faced suspension from his pastor after appearing in the iconic 1990s film, ‘Glamour Girls’.

In the film, Orji starred alongside Eucharia Anunobi in a scene that depicted nudity, a decision that ultimately impacted his marital life negatively.

Speaking on the ‘Nollywood Hardcore: The Legend’s Untold Story’ podcast, Orji shared how the aftermath of the movie affected him personally.

He recounted how numerous negative reports circulating about the scene led to his pastor confronting him, expressing concerns, and eventually suspending him from church activities.

Recalling the conversation with his pastor, Orji recounted, “I remember after the movie was released, my pastor invited me and said that he had been receiving too many calls… How can Zack go and do this kind of thing? He said he called me because he wanted to suspend me. But he wanted to inform me first of all before suspending me.”

The actor highlighted the challenges he faced, including rumors circulating within the industry and beyond.

He shared an instance where a journalist approached him on set to confirm the rumors of his suspension from the church.

Despite the difficulties, Orji remained resolute, emphasizing the importance of communication and dispelling false narratives.
