I was declared DEAD – Kotoko CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah — Ghana Sports Online

Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer Nana Yaw Amponsah has recounted how he almost lost his life due to a cobra bite.

The genius football administrator has been talking to Dentaa across a wide range of issues and shared details about his private life during the conversation.

During the interview he shared chilling details about how he almost died from a venomous cobra bite.

“My dad and mum had traveled so I was playing football. We didn’t have tap in my home so when my dad came, he suggested I have a shower somewhere else,” he stated on the Dentaa show.

“So I went to a neighbour’s house. While we were fetching the water, a frog passed by and the boy I was with ran away. Before I turned, a big black cobra had bitten me. I was rushed to Tema General Hospital. They said they needed an anti-snake bite. My dad and uncle went to town, got one that had expired for three months. I was injected with it. At some point I was pronounced dead,” he added.

“I spent three months, three weeks at the hospital, my leg was rotten and at a point, they were going to amputate my leg but a senior doctor came in and they opted for skin grafting so they had to cut a bit of my skin from my thigh to fix it and eventually it was fixed,” he concluded.

Amponsah contested for the Ghana FA Presidency in October 2019 and emerged the second runner-up to Kurt Okraku who eventually won the race after beating his closest contender George Afriyie.
