I make $200,000-a-year running my own business and love every bit of it… but there is one generation that is just unreliable

A business owner who makes a staggering $200,000-a-year has singled out Gen Z workers claiming they are unreliable.

The Gold Coast man revealed managing younger workers was one of the hardest things to do while operating his roofing and cladding company.

‘With the generation that’s younger than me, everyone is unreliable,’ he told job app Getahead in a TikTok video.

He said the best part about working for himself is the ‘freedom’ to do what he wants because he is the boss.

The man also revealed he never did a business degree and said he worked his way up after he got a job working a trade.

‘You go out there and your mentality is your either driven or you not,’ he said.

‘If you’re not driven, you want to work for someone else. If [you are driven], you work for yourself’.

He also encouraged people who want to start their own business not to ‘be scared’ and ‘just do it’.

The man, who lives on the Gold Coast (pictured) slammed the younger generation as unreliable workers

Dozens of social media users agreed that owning a business does have benefits.

‘Working 100 hours so you don’t have to work 38 for someone else,’ one person wrote.

‘I feel this deep to my core as a business owner,’ another person wrote.

Others said there are plenty of people who apply themselves to their jobs even though they are not self employed.

‘Working for someone else doesn’t mean you aren’t driven,’ one wrote.

A young construction company owner previously told Daily Mail Australia apprentices these days aren’t willing to work hard to achieve long term success.

Corey Tomkins blamed social media for presenting a false view of how easy it is to succeed.

‘Influencers peddle get-rich-quick schemes that get ‘in the heads of these apprentices – and it almost creates a point of entitlement,’ he said.

‘It’s not even the one per cent of people that have those Lambos, have those mansions, have all those nice things that pump it across social media.’
