“I Didn’t Like How My Voice Sounded, I Didn’t Understand Why People Liked It”-Burna Boy Recounts [Video]


Internationationally recognized Nigerian Afro-Fusion crooner, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, known professionally as Burna Boy has recounted how he disliked the sound of his voice from the beginning of his music career and how his grandpa motivated him to do more for himself.

Speaking in an interview on Clique X, Burna Boy revealed that he never liked how his voice sounded and never understood why people liked his voice until he was spoken to by his grandpa.

According to him, his grandpa told him to focus on making his voice exceptional by cherishing his gift and knowing how to deliver on his music career.

He stated that his grandpa sighted that a saxophone, one of the best musical instruments in the world will not sound pleasing should one just blow air through it but will sound better when one uses it to deliver a tune, knowing what he is about, the saxophone becomes the best instrument ever.

My Grandpa explained to be that look! the saxophone when you blow air through it, it sounds sh!t but when you know what you are playing when you follow and when you know how to play the saxophone, it’s the best instrument ever. It made me understand that my voice is my saxophone”, he said.
