The Mercedes smashed into the Toyota Echo Ms Kauffman and her brother were in, before it hit a stationary Toyota RAV4 and flipped onto its side.

The two siblings died at the scene, with their mother Angelina Kauffman returning to the site of the crash on Saturday when she broke down in tears.

The occupants of the RAV4 were unharmed while police allege those inside the Mercedes fled the scene after the horror crash.

NSW Police confirmed a 20-year-old man has been arrested after handing himself into Liverpool Police Station on Saturday.

Alina Kauffman, 24, was killed in Friday night’s crash

CCTV allegedly shows the Mercedes travelling at high speed along a residential road just minutes before the crash.

Ms Kauffman had collected her brother from his new job at Kmart and the pair were nearly home when they were struck.

Their mother was inconsolable as she shared her heartbreak on Saturday.

‘My daughter she’s such a beautiful girl, she loves her brother,’ Angelina told reporters.

‘And my son he loves his sister. Now my son is gone and my daughter she’s gone. My kids are gone and I have to live the rest of my life with no kids, why? I don’t understand.’

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the siblings however they both died at the scene.

Angelina had arrived at the scene of the crash just minutes after her children were hit.

‘Alina called me and said ”mum I picked up my brother, we are going to get some food and then we are coming home”,’ Angelina said.

‘I said ”are you okay” and they said ”yes mummy”.’

When she didn’t hear from them in 20 minutes, Angelina and her other child tracked their location down via social media.

‘The police came and told me my kids died. My beautiful kids,’ she continued tearfully.

‘These people hit my kids and left them to die.’

Chilling CCTV footage captured the Mercedes allegedly speeding along a road, moments before the horror crash

A crime scene has been established and the Mercedes was subsequently seized by police, later undergoing forensic examination.

After they collided with the two vehicles, the three occupants of the Mercedes climbed out of the overturned car and allegedly fled the scene in a Volkswagen Golf.

Acting Assistant Commissioner Anthony Boyd said it’s believed high-speed is a contributing factor for the collision.

‘The evidence at this stage suggests the Mercedes has crossed (to the) incorrect side of the road, attempting to overtake the car in front of it and it has collided head on with the Toyota,’ the Asst Commissioner told reporters on Saturday.

‘I think it’s abhorrent behaviour. I think the nature of the collision itself is totally unacceptable behaviour.

‘And then to flee the scene and not offer assistance to the people in a vehicle, you may have been able to provide some form of first aid which may have assisted in saving their lives.’

Commissioner Boyd said police were still determining the relationship between the vehicles involved and the occupants, with the three occupants of the Mercedes not in the second vehicle when it was stopped at a later point.

He confirmed the black Mercedes had been reported as stolen.

An 18-year-old man who was driving the Golf was arrested on Saturday. He has since been released without charge.

Anyone with information has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
