Prince Henry Anim-Owiredu is an aspiring MP for Okere

Aspiring Member of Parliament (MP) for Okere in the Eastern Region on the ticket of the NDC, Prince Henry Anim-Owiredu is optimistic that the Constituency is ready to break the 24-year jinx of the NPP dominance in the area.

According to him, the grounds were favourable for him as PC and the NDC as a whole,, stressing that even faithful of the NPP were gradually gravitating towards the NDC.

He averred: “The grounds are not favourable for them [NPP], things have changed in Okere. Previously, they prided themselves with the assertion that Okere is their stronghold.”

Mr Anim-Owiredu made the assertion in an interview during the visit of the party’s general secretary, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah to the Constituency.

The businessman accused the NPP of planning to monetize the upcoming elections to buy the conscience of the electorate but expressed hope that this wouldn’t win them the polls.

With the NPP holding the Okere seat over the past two and a half decades, the NDC PC argued that the time was ripe for the Constituency to give the NDC the mandate.

“24 years is enough,” said Mr. Owiredu. “We’ve given the NPP twenty-four years, we know what they can do, it’s time to change our thumbs, let’s give the NDC four years…within the next four years we shall see changes in Okere.”

Voting for the NDC, he assured would enhance the development of Okere.

The Parliamentary Candidate was optimistic that the chairman’s general appeal in Ghana’s political space coupled with the massive turnout during his visit was ample testimony of Mr Nketiah’s influence and the NDC’s popularity in the Okere constituency.

“We all know the influence the general wields when it comes to politics in Ghana, he has a very strong support base, we all saw what happened when he came to Okere, not even Bawumia was able to pull the crowd he pulled during his visit,” he said.

The MP hopeful expressed hope that the message of the national chairman resonated well with the youth and general populace of Okere, adding that the political grounds has been gingered in the Constituency.
