Ghanaian teens Ampah and Acheampong combine to score 2 important goals for Chelsea against Southampton in U18 Premier League — Ghana Sports Online


Two Ghanaian youngsters Josh Acheampong and Ato Ampah combined to score two important goals to rescue a point for Chelsea in their 2-2 draw with Southampton in the U18 Premier League on Saturday.

Southampton, who had English-born Ghanaian kid Samuel Amo-Ameyaw in their starting XI, took a commanding 2-0 lead even after they had a player sent off in the 53rd minute.

Acheampong, 16, scored first before his compatriot Ampah who is also 16 scored the leveller.

Chelsea were on the verge of recording their first loss of the 2022/23 South League season but the two Ghanaian players came to their rescue with two important goals.

Defender Josh Acheampong halved the deficit for the London-based side inside the 79th minute before substitute Ato Ampah fully paid the debt with an 89th-minute equaliser which stunned the hosts.

Samuel Rak-Sakyi, whose elder brother Jesuran Rak-Sakyi is playing on loan at Charlton Athletics from Crystal Palace, lasted 75 minutes for the Junior Blues who now sit second on the league table.
