CK Akonnor and Jordan Ayew

Black Stars coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor has admitted that his team was poor despite securing victory against Ethiopia in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Mubarak Wakaso scored the only goal of the game to help the Black Stars record its first win in  Group G of the qualifiers.

It was an uninspiring performance from CK Akonnor’s team against the  Walias of Ethiopia.

Some key players also failed to turn up in the game as the Black Stars had to settle for the 1-0 win to secure the three points.

Reacting to the team’s performance at the post-match conference CK Akonnor admitted his team was not exciting as he had expected.

“We managed to win. It was a very difficult game”.

“We were not too exciting as we expected to play, I must admit. But we managed to win the three points which is the most important thing”

Ghana will travel to Johannesburg to play South Africa on Monday, September 6, 2021.

Six key players Jordan Ayew, Daniel Amartey, Jeffrey Schlupp, Andy Yiadom will not be able to make the trip due to COVID-19 quarantine regulations in the UK.
