Ghana captain Andre Ayew hoping to win more trophies with Al Sadd this season — Ghana Sports Online


Black Stars captain Andre Ayew is hoping to win more trophies with Qatari giants Al Sadd next season.

The ex-West Ham United man, 32, smashed 18 goals in his debut season at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.

His 15 goals in 21 games lifted him to finish as the second-highest scorer in the Qatar Stars League, just behind Kenya Michael Olunga.

Ayew won the 2021/22 league title with the club founded in October 1969 and is hoping to lift more trophies in the coming season.

Speaking to Kwabena Yeboah on the Sports Highlights show on GTV Sports+, the captivating attacker who has vast experience from playing at the elite level shared his expectations ahead of the new season.

“It was great to win the trophy, to be the 2nd top scorer of the league. For my 1st season, it was good but there’s a lot more to do to get a better season next year,” he revealed.

“It was a very good season and I hope more trophies will keep coming in.

On a personal level, the attacker says he wants to be an improved version of himself next season.

“I believe that I need to keep on working hard because I want to improve what I did last season whether statistically or in the game so I can help the team even more.”

The 2011 BBC African Footballer of the Year award winner is set to lead Ghana’s senior men’s team to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
