Ghana Football Association (GFA) president, Kurt Okraku, has lauded his administration for their involvement in elevating the performances of the various national teams.

Last year, the Black Stars played in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) while the Black Queens have also secured a return to the continental stage for the first time since 2018.

Ghana’s Black Princesses and the Black Satellites won gold medals at the 2023 African Games with the Princesses also qualifying to the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Speaking at the GFA 30th Ordinary Congress on Tuesday, August 27, Mr Okraku praised the performances of the teams while also highlighting the target of his administration for the Black Stars to make the 2026 World Cup.

“We have made strides in our national team performances with the qualifications to the WAFCON, to the men’s AFCON and at the moment, we are in a good position in our determination to qualify to the [2026] World Cup,” he said.

The Black Stars are currently second in Group I of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers and are level on points with Comoros who occupy the top spot.

Meanwhile, the senior national team will kick off their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying games against Angola and Niger next month.
