A tattooed drug dealer who attacked his uncle in a furious ice-fuelled rage after he found out his relative had been dating his ex-girlfriend has been jailed.
Kyle Bloom, 26, was sentenced to 23 months behind bars when he appeared via videolink in the County Court at Warrnambool in Victoria on Thursday.
He had already pleaded guilty to charges including aggravated burglary and unlawful assault.
The court heard that Bloom was told by his sister in August 2023 that his ex-girlfriend was in a relationship with his uncle.
The sister told Bloom that she had been ‘in a punch-on’ with his ex and that both she and their uncle had treated her ‘like s**t’ by ignoring her when she had visited them, the Geelong Advertiser reported.
The court heard that Bloom then rode his bike to his ex-partner’s home in northern Geelong, where he screamed for his uncle to come out.
When the uncle didn’t come out of the home, Bloom banged on the front door and forced entry by smashing a window.
Bloom used a meat tenderiser to hit his uncle in the head and told him he would ‘f**king hurt him’.

The court was told that Bloom then asked his uncle ‘why did you treat my sister like s**t and treat me like a goose’.
Bloom also sent a message to his ex-partner, calling her a ‘dog’ and a ‘s**t’ before threatening to burn down her house.
On the night of the incident, Bloom had assaulted his uncle, he had been high on ice and GHB.
He was also on bail and was also serving a community corrections order.
The court heard that after Bloom ended a one month stint behind bars last May, he ‘immediately’ visited his drug dealer and began using and selling drugs again.
The court heard that Bloom’s criminal record started in 2015, when he appeared in children’s court for the theft of a car.
His drug abuse started soon after leaving school.
Bloom told a psychologist he had been jailed six times and said he used acid, ice, cannabis, MDMA, cocaine, opiates and benzodiazepines.

In sentencing, Judge George Georgiou said that while Bloom had underlying mental health issues, he didn’t believe they played a role in the offending and said the main driver was his consumption of drugs.
‘You were angry and fuelled by illicit drugs when you committed the offences,’ he said.
The judge rejected the defence’s submission where they asked for a combination of jail and a CCO.
‘Being under the influence of illicit drugs does not provide you with any excuse or mitigation,’ Judge Georgiou said.
The judge also found that while Bloom’s aggravated burglary had been spontaneous and unplanned, the assault his uncle was premeditated.
Despite no victim impact statements being submitted to the court, the judge said he could infer ‘from the circumstances that this must have been a terrifying incident’.
Bloom will be eligible for parole once he’s served 13 months of his sentence.
His 335 days of pre-sentence detention will be deducted from the sentence, which means he could be freed as early as September.
