Four dead and dozens more injured after shooting in Alabama

Four people were killed and dozens more left injured following a mass shooting in Alabama

Two men and a woman were killed at the scene in the 2000 block of Magnolia Avenue in the Five Points South area near the University of Alabama at Birmingham, while a fourth victim died at the university’s hospital, Birmingham Police said.

The fatal incident took place just after 11pm, Officer Truman Fitzgerald told AL.com.

Detectives are investigating whether the gunmen walked up to the victims or drove by, Mr Fitzgerald added.

Police believe there may be multiple gunmen responsible for the shooting but no suspects have been arrested.

‘Rest assured, we are going to do everything we possibly can to uncover, identify and hunt down whoever was responsible for preying on our people,’ Mr Fitzgerald added.

Streets have been blocked off in the surrounding area as police continue their investigation into the incident.

Mr Fitzgerald revealed that local authorities have reached out to the FBI and ATF for assistance.
