Forson Amankwah set for quick return after injury scare

Forson Amankwah after suffering a shoulder injury

Norwich City’s Forson Amankwah is on track for a swift return to action, despite initial concerns about the severity of his shoulder injury.

The midfielder sustained the injury during the first half of Norwich’s 4-0 defeat at Selhurst Park, where he appeared to dislocate his shoulder after slipping while closing down Will Hughes.

The incident seemed serious at first, with Amankwah requiring oxygen and an injection on the pitch before being taken off in a sling.

Norwich manager Thorup, though cautious, expressed some optimism after the match.

“It looked a little bit better than expected when we saw him afterwards,” Thorup said, noting that a thorough medical evaluation was still necessary.

Fortunately, tests conducted on Wednesday confirmed that surgery wouldn’t be needed, paving the way for Amankwah’s unexpected early return.

The Ghanaian is expected to resume training as early as Thursday or Friday and could even feature in Saturday’s match against Coventry City.

Amankwah’s quick recovery is a major boost for Norwich, who are still searching for their first Championship win of the season.

With two assists in his first five games, Amankwah has already made a strong start at Carrow Road, and his return could provide the spark the team needs.
