FC Nordsjaelland promote Ghanaian youngster Issaka Baba Seidu to senior team

Ghanaian left-back Issaka ‘Baba’ Seidu has been promoted to the first team of Danish outfit FC Nordsjælland after impressing at the youth setup.

Seidu joined Nordsjælland in June from the famous Ghanaian football academy, the Right to Dream Academy, but spent time with the youth team in Farum.

However, after displaying enormous potential and eagerness to take a step up, he was enrolled in the first team. Baba will now be permanently part of the senior team and will wear the number 30 jersey.

“We have noticed Baba for a long time, where at left back he has particularly impressed with his enormously high top speed, but he is also strong in his defensive duels. So he’s a really good weapon in our breakthrough game because he’s so offensive and quick, and we’re looking forward to seeing even more of that at Superliga level,” said the club’s Technical Director, Alex Riget.

“He comes from the academy in Ghana, but we have also seen him a lot at the international academy in recent years.”

The talented defender is excited about his progress, stating he is ready to play a role in the first team.

“It feels really good to be part of the Superliga squad, and I am proud of it. I have been in the organization for many years, so it is big for a young player like me to take the permanent step up to the Superliga squad,” he said.

“I became part of the Right to Dream Academy when I was 12 years old and I am now ready to take the next step in my career. It is not easy to take that step, but I hope that I can take advantage of the fact that I already know the style of play and have played many big games with several of the players. I am looking forward to stepping onto the pitch and hopefully making both my teammates and the fans happy.”
