Farewells for two jumping castle victims to be held in Tasmania – as another two survivors are miraculously cleared to leave hospital

Two 11-year-old Tasmanian jumping castle victims will be farewelled on New Year’s Eve at separate funeral services in the state’s northwest.

Family and friends are encouraged to wear Western Bulldogs or Golden State Warriors colours to celebrate the life of Chace Harrison in Devonport at 10.30am on Friday.

He passed away in hospital three days after enjoying end-of-year celebrations at Hillcrest Primary School on December 16, the last of six children to die after a freak gust of wind picked up the castle and several inflatable zorb balls.

Chace has been remembered in funeral notices as a much-loved big brother and son, with a ‘cheeky grin’ who was often involved in ‘fun-loving antics’.

Chace Harrison died as a result of the Hillcrest Primary School tragedy.

‘Our hearts are broken. Our world has changed forever. Our love for you will always remain the same,’ his parents Teresa and Craig wrote in The Advocate.

His classmate Addison Stewart will be farewelled at the same Devonport venue from 1pm on Friday.

Mourners have been invited to wear aqua or green to celebrate Addison’s short life, with donations to the Devonport Dogs’ Home encouraged in her memory.

She has been remembered by family and friends as ‘a beautiful angel taken much too soon’, a loved daughter and best friend to her sister and brother.

Addison Stewart has been remembered as a beautiful angel who was taken too soon.

Schoolmates Peter Dodt and Jalailah Jayne-Maree Jones were farewelled earlier this week, while Jye Sheehan and Zane Mellor’s funerals were held last week.

Two badly injured victims from the incident have recovered to the point they have been cleared to leave hospital, Tasmania’s Premier Peter Gutwein confirmed on Thursday.

The coroner is investigating the circumstances around the accident and will receive reports from Tasmania Police and WorkSafe Tasmania.

Meanwhile, more than $1.4 million has been raised for the families via an online fundraising page.

The federal government has also committed $800,000 to counselling and support for the region.

Devonport City Council is collecting countless tributes left outside the school to create a permanent memorial.
