Enormous blaze engulfs inner-city timber boarding house as emergency crews rush to evacuate residents


A massive blaze has ripped apart a timber boarding house and left one occupant in hospital.

Emergency services were called to the home on Walton St in Dutton Park, just south of Brisbane‘s CBD, at 2:50pm on Tuesday to find it ablaze.

Images of the shocking scene shows a huge column of smoke rising from the home while paramedics were seen treating one woman with an oxygen mask.

Queensland Police confirmed the woman was transported to hospital due to smoke inhalation.

The remaining occupants have have all been accounted for.

All occupants have been accounted for however one woman was taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation (pictured, the woman being treated at the scene)

The property was severely damaged by the blaze, which was still yet to be declared safe by emergency services as of 3:45pm. 

Firefighters have since managed to extinguish the fire which police have since declared a crime scene.

‘Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire,’ police said in a statement.
