EndSARS: Police Warns Against Protest In Kwara

The Kwara State Police Command has warned against plans to hold a protest in the state to mark the Endsars protest anniversary.

The warning is coming ahead of the planned event to mark the one year anniversary of the protest on Wednesday across the country.

The Police’ spokesman, Ajayi Okasanmi, said the situation in the state, for now, is not conducive for any procession.

He added; “considering the security situation and the recent cultist activities which have heightened tension in the minds of some members of the public, it can not be reasonable to allow any protest or procession.

“The Commissioner of Police, Tuesday Assayomo, therefore advised the youth and organisers of the proposed protest to shelve the idea as the Command would not accept the breakdown of law and order in the name of Endsars Memorial Protest.

Protest

“The ugly incidents of the year 2020 Endsars protest where precious lives of our people and valuable properties of both the government and private individuals were viciously destroyed is still fresh in our memories,” he further noted.

Ajayi said: “The Command is advising parents and guidance to call their children and wards to order by warning them not to be lured into any protest as the command will not fold its arms while the peace in existence in the State is jeopardized.”
