Tracy Timmins, 46, mother of Eddie’s owner Bonnie Collier, 17, said the cat was not hurt in the funny incident but it gave the family a shock.

‘As soon as we knew he wasn’t hurt, we started laughing straight away – and we still laugh a year on.’

She said that the funny footage filmed last January is a fitting way for them to remember Eddie, who passed away recently.

Ms Timmins said: ‘Bonnie would put screensavers on the computer screen of birds or other wildlife and normally he would just sit and watch for hours.

‘But for whatever reason, this time he just flew at the monitor. It made us all jump – but he got the biggest shock!

Tracy Timmins, 46, mother of Eddie’s owner Bonnie Collier, 17, said luckily he was not hurt but it gave the family a shock. The family shared the video in tribute to the cat who recently died

It’s not the first time a cat has been caught on camera hitting the deck as he watched a video.

In footage from last year, six-month old kitten Bruce, can be seen standing on his hind legs, with one paw resting against the television screen, watching intently as Lion King character Simba confronts his old nemesis Scar.

‘The choice is yours, Scar,’ Simba growls menacingly.

The speech seems to spook poor Bruce, who leaps away in such a hurry that he ends up slipping and crashing head-first into the television unit below.
