Ace sports broadcaster Dan Kwaku Yeboah is puzzled by the perceived obsession of Ghanaian politicians with the acquisition of state-owned properties.

The head of Despite Media’s sports team is mystified that, despite the transient nature of life, Ghanaian politicians continue to appropriate state properties for themselves through questionable means.

Speaking on Okay FM, Kwaku Yeboah sought to understand the mentality of some Ghanaian politicians and their obsession with wealth accumulation.

He cited examples of how public officials occupy state buildings and then refuse to move out when their tenure is over.

“What is happening in this country? These same politicians who engage in these activities go to funerals every weekend. So, don’t they learn anything from the funerals of their colleagues that they attend? Can’t they realize that they came into this world with nothing and will leave with nothing?

“Maybe I have a poverty mindset and theirs is different, but I don’t understand. Someone will stay in a government bungalow that has existed since the era of Kwame Nkrumah and then refuse to relinquish it when his time comes to an end,” he said.

Kwaku Yeboah’s shock at the unfolding events in the country was triggered by an allegation from Kwame Nkrumah Tikese that the apartment for prison officers behind the headquarters of the Ghana Police Service at Cantonments in Accra has been sold to a private developer.

Nkrumah Tikese alleged that the prison officers currently occupying the facility have been ordered to move out in July 2024.
