Don’t retain our MCE – Nsawam Youth to President Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

The Concern Youth of Nsawam/Adoagyiri Municipality of the Eastern Region, are appealing to President Akufo-Addo not to re-nominate, Isaac Kwame Buabeng, as the MCE for the area again.

According to the youth, since he came MCE has used the office as an avenue to amass wealth and to champion different courses of interest to himself and not the party and Government.

The group in a statement issued and signed by Alice Ahwireng, and Kwasi Ayeh, Coordinator and Deputy, respectively alleged that “This is a man who took huge sums of bribes from his party constituency executives with promises of giving them contracts and never did”.

The statement added that” The news was published all over and to date, he has not been able to respond to any of the allegations made against him”.

The statement added that “He receives sales from some public toilets into his pocket. He has disrespected the chiefs and the people especially the party people. He has been involved in a lot of scandals that have soiled the image of the Municipality already and has been written off by almost every concerned person in the citizenry that is passionate about the party’s success in the next elections”.

“We even learn that twelve of the sixteen constituency executives of the party in our constituency have petitioned. His Excellency to replace Mr. Buabeng.”

Below is the full statement

We, the underlisted members wish to express our discontent with news and leaked information making rounds all over that the President of the Republic has retained our current MCE, Isaac Kwadwo Buabeng.

Ladies and gentlemen of the press, we want to remind everyone that the NPP was in a confident leader as far as Presidential and Parliamentary elections were concerned until the appointment of Mr. Buabeng who rather saw the office he was occupying as an avenue to amass wealth and to champion different courses of interest to himself and not the party and Government.

This is a man who took huge sums of bribes from his party constituency executives with promises of giving them contracts and never did. The news was published all over and to date, he has not been able to respond to any of the allegations made against him.

He receives sales from some public toilets into his pocket. He has disrespected the chiefs and the people especially the party people. He has been involved in a lot of scandals that have soiled the image of the Municipality already and has been written off by almost every concerned person in the citizenry that is passionate about the party’s success in the next elections. We even learn that twelve of the sixteen constituency executives of the party in our constituency have petitioned. His Excellency to replace Mr. Buabeng.

Some chiefs have also added their voices. Our traders and a good number of the citizenry have made similar calls.

We cannot simply fathom how and why the President thinks he is the best person to represent him at the local level when he contributed negatively to the progress of the Municipality.

In short, Mr. Buabeng has been a disaster in the last four (4) years and we simply do not want him anymore Mr. President.

Again, we do not understand why people should be made to go through rigorous scrutiny for months and then make it among the first three only for us to receive news that the one that couldn’t make it has rather been given the appointment. This defeats the principle of fairness and transparency.

At least the people of Nsawam wanted to change and three people namely Mr. Owusu Emmanuel, Mr. Godwin Smart, and Mr. Daniel Anim were shortlisted and Mr. Owusu being recommended for the position. If for nothing at all, the choice of any of these three would have sufficed for the appointment but certainly not the one that couldn’t make it.

We want to plead with the President of the republic and call on him to rescind his decision to re-appoint Mr. Buabeng if what we are hearing is true else we the people in this constituency cannot foretell the future of the party and its fortunes in the next election. We shall simply advise ourselves and when this happens, let nobody step in to calm nerves because to be forewarned is to be forearmed. We simply cannot make any progress with someone who has failed in the last four years.

The job on the ground is already getting tough and we dare say that it is going to be tougher and tougher for us Mr. President. Please listen to our plea and consider it, please.

We thank you for your audience.

Signed…
