Cyclist’s frantic phone call after woman allegedly smashed through multiple fences trying to ‘run him down’ with her 4WD

Dramatic GoPro footage of a cyclist fleeing from a 4WD has been played in a Brisbane court, showing the vehicle driving through fences as the man takes refuge in a nearby house.
Shelley Anne Alabaster, 45, is accused of trying to mow down the cyclist during an alleged ‘terrifying’ road rage altercation in the Brisbane suburb of Inala last year.
In footage played during her bail application on Wednesday, the cyclist can be heard frantically phoning police and knocking on doors during the alleged incident.

‘Someone is trying to run me over, f**k,’ the man is heard saying as he runs through fences to escape the driver.

In the footage, the man is heard frantically asking police to come to Lapwing Street in Inala.
Ms Alabaster, who is charged with attempted murder, is alleged to be behind the wheel of the car.
The film was captured on his GoPro helmet.
In the footage, a woman is heard shouting ‘get the f**k away from me’ before revving the engine of the 4WD and hitting a fence.
The man is seen phoning police as he takes refuge in the yard of a nearby house as the revving 4WD crashes into another fence.
‘It’s in Inala … (she’s) gone through multiple fences,’ he is heard saying.
‘I was just riding, she’s drunk I think.’

Defence counsel Jakub Lodziak said it would have been a ‘terrifying’ experience for the victim but submitted it did not depict an attempted murder.
‘Much of the conduct was not directed at the cyclist, much of the time of that period is shown with the vehicle being far from the cyclist, nowhere near him,’ Mr Lodziak said.
‘There were no observable injuries reported to him.’
But Justice David Boddice said he didn’t accept there wasn’t an intention to kill, saying she had nudged the victim while he was riding the bike.
‘It was reported as saying she intends to kill him,’ Justice Boddice said.
‘She wasn’t desisting … she ran over a fence.’
The court was told that Ms Alabaster had outstanding mental health problems.
Ms Alabaster’s bail application was adjourned to allow Mr Lodziak to get further material for his client’s application, including potential in-house rehabilitation to address her drug problems.
