The National Sports Authority (NSA) has announced the closure of the Accra and Cape Coast stadia for rehabilitation, according to a report by Joy Sports.

The report indicates that the closure aims to facilitate renovation works to ensure the facilities and pitches meet international standards for hosting foreign football matches.

Joy Sports also highlighted that this decision follows the Confederation of African Football (CAF) banning the Baba Yara Sports Stadium from hosting Black Stars matches due to poor facilities.

The NSA is working to rehabilitate the Accra and Cape Coast stadia promptly, hoping that at least one of them will be ready to host Black Stars matches ahead of the 2025 African Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

Previously, the Ministry of Youth and Sports instructed the Ghana Football Association to invite CAF officials to inspect the Accra Sports Stadium and the Legon Stadium to assess their suitability for hosting Black Stars games.

It remains uncertain whether the Black Stars will play the AFCON qualifiers at a neutral venue or if one of the local stadia will be approved by CAF to host the matches.
