Hundreds of supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Bono Region have taken to the streets, requesting a credible voters’ register.
The demonstration started at the Regional Party Office in Sunyani, moved through some of the major streets, and is expected to end at the Regional EC Office. The NDC demonstration, which is geared towards the Electoral Commission, saw a significant number of security personnel policing the process.
Specifically, police personnel from the Ashanti Region from all departments were present. Led by the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, regional heads from other departments such as the MTTD, PR, SWAT, Striking Force, Anti-Robbery Unit, and Buffalo Unit marched their members to join.
Meanwhile, the large number of participants sometimes gave the police a tough time. However, the police did well by ensuring that there was a peaceful march.
