Black Stars captain Andre Ayew missed training on Monday ahead of Ghana’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations match against Gabon.
Ayew did not train with the team in Yaoundé; however, reports in Cameroon say his absence is only a precaution.
Team doctors insist Ayew is fine and would be available for Friday’s game against The Panthers.
Ayew revealed that he was unwell for two days before the Black Stars lost their first game to Morocco on Monday. He suffered a cut above his right eye during the match.
The Qatar-based forward is expected back in training on Thursday.
Black Stars will aim to secure all three points against Gabon after their stuttering start. This encounter could propel Gabon into the next stage of the competition if they beat Ghana.
However, it’s all or nothing for Ghana as they need a win to stand a chance to qualify to the round 16th stage of the competition.
