Ashes 2022: Australia makes MAJOR change to its batting lineup for the fifth Test

Australia makes MAJOR change to its batting lineup for the fifth Ashes Test with a prominent player axed

Australian opener Marcus Harris has been axed for the fifth Ashes Test in Hobart in favour of in-form batsman Usman Khawaja.

Captain Pat Cummins has confirmed Harris’ omission, with Khawaja to open the batting alongside David Warner in the pink-ball Test that begins on Friday.

Khawaja scored two centuries during the third Test in Sydney after stepping in for his Covid-infected teammate Travis Head.

Harris has managed only 179 runs in the series so far, including 76 during the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne.

Scott Boland will meanwhile attempt to bowl at training on Thursday in a last bid effort to prove his fitness.

Cummins is keen to see the Victorian retain his place in the XI that drew the fourth Test.
