Asante Kotoko to relocate to Obuasi, set to reside at Sam Jonas Estate

Asante Kotoko are reportedly set to relocate to Obuasi following the CAF ban and closure of the Baba Yara Stadium.

The team is said to be temporarily based in Obuasi, residing at Sam Jonas Estate and training at Ofori Park.

The change of the team’s camp base includes adopting the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium as their temporary home venue for the season.

Asante Kotoko moved their home games to Obuasi following the unavailability of the Baba Yara Stadium, after the National Sports Authority (NSA) closed the venue for maintenance.

According to the NSA, the venue will not host any events for a month as it undergoes maintenance.

The NSA has indicated that the venue will officially reopen on October 7 for Ghana’s next home game in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The closure follows criticisms of the pitch during Ghana’s 1-0 defeat to Angola in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

The stadium will remain closed until October 7, 2024, when it will reopen for Ghana’s next home match if approved.
