The early May bank holiday is just around the corner, and it promises to be a day of relaxation and fun for many. 

With King Charles III‘s coronation soon approaching on May 6, it also seems as though the weather is finally starting to behave. 

Yesterday, it was announced that it was the hottest day of the year for England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

And temperatures are set to get even hotter as the bank holiday weekend continues.

Now all you need is to know what shops are open on May 1, so you can get everything planned and ready for the coming weeks.

Is Tesco open on bank holiday Monday?

The majority of Tesco’s 3,400 stores across the UK are expected to be open across the bank holiday.

All Tesco Express stores will be open as usual.

Tesco’s larger stores will be open from 8am to 6pm with some potentially staying open until 8pm.

What are the opening times for Morrisons on bank holiday Monday?

During the month of May there will be three bank holidays on May 1, May 8 and May 29. 

Morrisons has confirmed that its supermarkets will be open on each of these days.

However, they will be closing slightly earlier at 8pm. 

What are the opening times for Lidl?

Lidl’s opening hours for the May bank holiday will vary slightly across different stores.

For the majority of Lidl supermarkets across the UK the opening time will be from 8am to 8pm.

However, some stores may not be subject to these hours and they could close at 10pm.  

Will Aldi be open on the bank holiday? 

Aldi’s supermarkets will remain open as usual on Monday, but there will be a slight difference to its normal opening hours.

Aldi has more than 1,000 stores across the UK and usually they stay open until 10pm.

On May 1 and May 8 Aldi stores will close slightly earlier at 8pm.

Across Scotland, however, all Aldi supermarkets will be open until 10pm as normal.

When is Waitrose open on bank holiday Monday? 

If you’re planning a BBQ in the garden Waitrose will be open to the public on Monday May 1.

Its stores will be open from 9am-6pm, so make sure you get everything you need before the store shuts. 

B&Q bank holiday Monday opening hours 

B&Q has all you need for DIY or revamping your garden – but what time is it open on May 1?

The store will be open as usual on the bank holiday Monday.

Opening times will either vary from 7am to 8am – you can always check using B&Q’s store locator on its website.

Co-op executives have revealed their stores will remain open for the May bank holiday Monday.

Opening times may vary slightly, especially if the store is located in a shopping centre.

Asda bank holiday Monday opening hours 

With over 630 UK stores, you will be glad to hear that Asda is remaining open on bank holiday Monday.

Some stores may differ slightly but most will open from 7am to 8pm.

Pharmacies are vital for people who need to keep on top of their medication or collect prescriptions.

In order to ensure you know when your local pharmacy is open, the NHS has provided a list of what pharmacies will remain open on their website.

There is no set guidance on pharmacies staying open for bank holidays, but it appears there will be stores open. 

In most cases, though, the pharmacies will be open for limited hours in order to help customers get their essential medicines.
