Alex Jones Accused of Hiding Millions from Sandy Hook Families

The families of the Sandy Hook massacre allege that Alex Jones is hiding assets to avoid paying the millions of dollars he owes them from the defamation suit he lost, claiming he is now broke.

The families of nine victims have requested that Jones surrender control of his company, Free Speech Systems, claiming that he’s ‘systematically transferred millions of dollars’ to himself and others to hide money from the families, in a filing in bankruptcy court in Houston, The New York Times reported.

The filing requests that an independent oversight committee investigate Jones company’s finances, and restrict his ability to control Infowars’s finances.  bankruptcy trustee would also relinquish Free Speech Systems, the news outlet reported.

In the filing, Jones was accused of funneling nearly $62 million from Free Speech Systems that started in 2018 when the Sandy Hook families first filed suit.

To avoid compensation, he made up a fictitious debt, the lawyer of the Sandy Hook victims’ families allege.

In the bankruptcy filing he claims that PQPR Holdings, a company that is reportedly owned and operated by him and his parents, owes them $54 million, The New York Times reported.

Jones is the founder of Infowars, the far-right conspiracy theory and fake news website that he launched 23 years ago that operates under the parent company, Free Speech Systems.

A Texas jury ordered Jones earlier this month to pay the families of the Sandy Hook massacre, nearly $50 million in damages after he spread a bizarre conspiracy theory claiming that the December 14, 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, never happened and that it was staged.

Twenty children, between the ages of six and seven years old, and six adults were killed when 20-year-old Adam Lanza went on a shooting spree.

Kyle Farrar, a lawyer for the Sandy Hook families, who denies that Jones is bankrupt, claims that he is conjuring these plots to conceal money and evade responsibility.

He said, ‘in part, ‘Alex Jones is not financially bankrupt; he is morally bankrupt,’ Mediate reported.

Jones is expected to file a response to the new motion soon, one of his bankruptcy lawyers, R.J. Shannon said on Thursday, The New York Times reported.
