The Managing Director of the State Housing Company (SHC), Kwabena Ampofo Appiah has highlighted the achievements of the SHC under President Akufo-Addo’s administration, stating that over 3,000 houses have been constructed during his tenure.

He contrasted this with the 12 houses built under the administration of former President John Dramani Mahama.

Ampofo Appiah praised the current government’s dedication to housing development, noting that the SHC had been revitalized under the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He emphasised that the significant increase in housing projects reflects the government’s commitment to addressing Ghana’s housing deficit.

Ampofo Appiah further criticised the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, arguing that their housing efforts were insufficient and ineffective in tackling the country’s growing housing needs.

Speaking in an interview on Patriotic Spaces on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 he asserted that the SHC’s performance under Mahama was lackluster, with minimal output compared to the current surge in construction.

The SHC Managing Director commended the Akufo-Addo administration for providing the necessary support and resources to enable the SHC to undertake larger projects.

He noted that these efforts have not only provided homes for Ghanaians but have also contributed to job creation in the construction sector, boosting the local economy.

“Honestly, I think we must all commend President Akufo-Addo for his sterling leadership and the various Ministers for the Housing Ministry that I have worked under over the period because we have done tremendous work under the State Housing Company.”

“We have built over 3,000 houses under the Akufo-Addo government as opposed to the 12 houses that were built under former President John Dramani Mahama‘s administration,” he said.
