A respected town mother of Tema, Mrs. Rejoice Dorcoo, has framed former President John Mahama, and current President, Nana Akufo-Addo as gentlemanly role models that should inspire tolerance among followers of politics in Ghana.

In an interview at Tema Community 4 on Saturday, where Mrs. Dorcoo, who is popularly known as Auntie Esi, expressed unhappiness that even though the leaders of the two main political parties in Ghana are friendly, their followers fight unnecessarily.

“President Akufo-Addo and former President John Mahama are not enemies and I don’t believe they will ever be enemies. From their days in Parliament till now, they have remained friends and it is a well-known fact,” Auntie Esi said.

Auntie Esi added, “…this is why it is such a shame that we still have supporters and admirers of these two gentlemen who hate themselves in the name of President Akufo-Addo and former President Mahama.”

Mrs. Dorcoo was speaking on the sidelines of the funeral for the late Mr. Richard Bosomtwe.

Mr. Bosomtwe was the father of Franklina Efua Bosomtwe, wife of Hon. Kempes Ofosuware, former Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for Tema and Parliamentary aspirant for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

A highly respected entrepreneur, Auntie Esi, who is the owner and Chief Executive of construction company Megazillion, was the cynosure of attention when she arrived at the highly attended funeral.

This is because as a town mother whose learned husband is a former TOR Boss, she is known for outstanding benevolence towards both ordinary people of Tema and members of the city’s political class, irrespective of political affiliation.

Her cite of the friendliness between President Akufo-Addo and former President Mahama stemmed from the fact that the funeral of Mr. Richard Bosomtwi had brought together politicians from the two major political parties of the country – NPP and NDC.

Hon. Daniel Titus Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, former NPP MP for Tema East had joined Kempes Ofosuware of the NDC and a cultural group from Zabuguon the dance floor where they had danced their hearts out to cheers of approval. Mr. Titus-Glover, a former deputy Minister of Transport and MP for Tema East, mesmerized the gathering with the artistic and stylistic manner in which he danced with the Northern cultural group, likewise Auntie Esi.

Also in attendance was the current NDC MP for Tema East, Hon. Isaac Ashai Odamtten, who delivered a brilliant speech at the funeral to the admiration of the gathering.

“What we saw on the dancefloor, is what pertains among the big men and women in the leadership of the parties. They remain friends, laugh together and help one another out when they have difficulties, like funerals. If you are a follower and you fight your brother or sister on behalf of these same leaders and because of that you cannot attend funerals when they lose loved ones, then you are unnecessarily losing your humanity over nothing,” Auntie Esi said.

She advised the youth therefore to learn from their leaders and emulate them.

Auntie Esi was full of praise for President Akufo-Addo and former President John Mahama for the cordial relation that exists between them.

Those in attendance at the funeral include Hon. Joseph Korto, National Dean of Presiding Members, a prominent Chief from Zabzugu, Mr. Katey Bannerman, of the National Media Commission, Mr. Joe Nyame, a businessman, Stephen Ashitey Adjei, alias Moshake, a mainstream politician, Mr. Lord Hamah, a former propaganda secretary of NDC and a student leader at the University of Ghana, Mr. Seidu Abdulai, Tema East NDC Secretary.
