Adelaide Christie Downs IGA: Woman’s wild rampage in supermarket caught on CCTV after she was accused of shoplifting

By Hannah Wilcox For Daily Mail Australia

    Updated: 21:49 EDT, 31 August 2023

A brazen shopper has been captured dancing down the aisles of her local supermarket after allegedly stealing items before brawling with security in shocking security footage.

The woman, barefoot and dressed in all black, is seen dancing down the aisles of the IGA in Adelaide‘s Christie Downs around 2pm on Wednesday whilst putting items in her basket.

Walking straight past the checkout and out of the store, allegedly without paying, the 36-year-old then tries her luck a second time and returns for more items as seen in the CCTV obtained by 9News.

She is then chased around the supermarket by staff before a violent scuffle sparks near the counter – with the woman throwing signs and punches to anyone who comes near her.

The shopper then makes erratic demands for cigarettes with employees attempting to end the wild rampage by performing a citizens’ arrest.

Escaping the grips of the workers, the woman escapes the store and is locked out.

Amazingly, her rampage does not stop with the woman’s escapade continuing down the street and across a busy highway – narrowly missing oncoming traffic – when police arrived.

The shopper was finally stopped when she was caught by police on Flaxmill Road.

She is also accused of stealing medication from a nearby chemist.

A police spokesperson confirmed a 36-year-old Christie Downs woman was arrested and charged with assault, theft and disorderly behaviour.

    No injuries were reported.

The woman was bailed to appear in Christies Beach Magistrates Court on September 15.
