19,000 Master Crafsmen Trained Under Ghana TVET Voucher Project – Gifty Ampofo | Education

The Deputy Minister for Education in charge of TVET, Hon. Gifty Twum Ampofo, has stated that over 19,000 master craftsmen and apprentices have received training under Ghana TVET voucher projects.

The Ghana TVET voucher projects provide demand-driven training vouchers to CTVET-registered master craftspersons, their apprentices, and workers.

She said that there are 19,000 people who have benefited from this project since its introduction in 2017.

She said they have been able to do this with the support of the government of Ghana and the German government.

She added that by encouraging other people to participate in the next TVET voucher project, where the government has invested a lot of money, about 50,000 master craftsmen and apprentices will be trained.

The Deputy Minister for Education in charge of TVET made this known in an interview with Peace FM News during the Sector Skills Bodies media engagement organized by the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET).

Hon. Gifty Twum Ampofo therefore urged parents to encourage their children to be involved in the TVET project when they are placed in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions and not to change their placements.

She said the Ministry of Education will introduce a dual TVET, including learning in the classroom and at the workplace.

The Director General of the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET), Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, also added that we have been talking a lot about the CTVET and TVET institutions and the Sector Skills Bodies also need to get the attention it need because they have to support and collaborate with the government to make their workplace available for training including media firm.
