In Delt a state, at least ten people were killed when a church building collapsed.
During a service on Tuesday, January 11, the building housing the Salvation Ministry in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, collapsed.
According to The Nation, this is the first time the church edifice has been used. Eight people were unharmed when they were rescued, while four others were sent to the Asaba Specialist Hospital.
Delta Government officials, including Chief Patrick Ukah, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ononye Mordi, a team of Red Cross officials, and fire fighters, were on the scene, where community youths and a team of policemen were mobilised for rescue operations.
